Older adults living in assisted living facilities, like nursing homes and adult foster care facilities, is accounting for the majority of deaths from COVID-19 because of their age and underlying medical conditions.
Dr. Buffy and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) are working in nursing homes in Michigan to help limit and stop the spread of the coronavirus in these facilities. MSF teams are offering in-person infection prevention and control training, technical support, and stress management care to staff and residents.
In this video, you will hear from, Dr. Buffy Lloyd-Krejci, “What’s different about what MSF is doing is, we’re actually going into the facilities. We’re going on-site. We’re spending time with the people.” Teams are also providing psychological support for nursing home staff.
