We Help You Build
the Fundamentals
IPCWell is devoted to mitigating infectious diseases and inappropriate antibiotic prescribing in all healthcare settings to reduce adverse events, infections, antibiotic resistance, re-admissions, and loss of life. With human-centered design and new technology, healthcare’s rapidly approaching horizon feels very promising, but even the brightest minds, cutting edge innovation, and beautiful new models of care will be rendered ineffective if the fundamentals of infection prevention are not firmly in place.
IPCWell is built of a dynamic team of professionals who share the vision and passion in achieving these goals.
Meet the team
Dr. Buffy Lloyd-Krejci
Founder Dr. Buffy Lloyd-Krejci (or Dr. Buffy as her clients call her) has always had a passion for serving underserved and resource-limited healthcare settings. Dr. Buffy realized how infections impact long-term care facilities with national estimates of 1-3 million infections leading to 380,000 deaths every year. Drawn to action to improve the infection prevention landscape for these communities, she utilized her over 2 decades of experience in the healthcare field and her doctorate in public health (DrPH) to launch IPCWell.
Dr. Buffy and her team have provided training, education, and technical assistance (both in person and virtually) to hundreds of congregate care facilities across the country. Tireless and hyper-focused, Dr. Buffy has cemented herself as a national leader in the field of infection prevention in the elder care space.
When not onsite or working, Dr. Buffy enjoys spending time with her five grown children and grandsons. She loves to write books, run, speak French, and bake yummy croissants.
Elizabeth Gonzalez
Elizabeth has worked in healthcare, specifically in long term care, in various roles. While working in long-term care she learned about the infection preventionist role. Elizabeth then began working towards becoming an LPN with the goal to become an IP Nurse. She is in the process of furthering her education.
Working for IPCWell has been the role Elizabeth has been looking for. She enjoys being able to help others by providing hands-on support, education, and learning along the way.
Outside of work Elizabeth enjoys spending her free time with her husband, daughter, and dogs. She will occasionally jump into arts and crafts projects.
Brooke Singleton
Brooke is a dedicated infection preventionist with over 2 years of invaluable experience, specializing in long-term care facilities. Grounded in a strong academic foundation in microbiology, Brooke began their career journey as a COVID-19 lab technician at a 146-bed facility. Immersed in the realities of long-term care, her compassion for residents’ quality of life only deepened as she observed the infectious impact of the pandemic. Fueled by a desire to make a meaningful difference, she quickly stepped into the role of infection preventionist.
Now empowered by the other dedicated members of IPCWell, Brooke passionately pursues the goal of elevating the conditions of long-term care settings. Through the meaningful conversations and connections made at nursing facilities, she strives to create a future where long-term care facilities prioritize infection control as a measure to ensure exceptional care and quality of life.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Brooke finds joy in life’s simple pleasures. At home, she enjoys the companionship of her beloved animals. Cooking, gardening, hiking, and exploring the great outdoors also rank high among her favorite activities.
Sarah Downs
Sarah had always been close to her grandparents, and when she graduated nursing school in 2011, her job search led her to long-term care facilities. She had always felt the elderly didn’t receive the care they deserved. In long-term care, she quickly realized how much she enjoyed being able to get to know the person along with their families she was taking care of.
In early 2019 she was approached by her administrator asking if she would be interested in becoming an Infection Preventionist. In the fall of 2021, after working hundreds of hours during the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to leave her position as the IP at the nursing home. At this time, she was able to join IPCWELL to help continue providing support and education to facilities. Her position has allowed her to continue her love for infection prevention and control on a larger scale, to work hand and hand with IPs sharing their struggles and helping to give them a voice along with the residents. Helping provide education, best practices and the “why” behind utilizing these practices has been very rewarding for her.
Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 boys outside of work, traveling and enjoying everything life has to offer.
Meagan Prutsman
Meagan’s career path started out in retail management. She had worked in craft and record stores for about 5 years before she was recruited to work in a sleep apnea/neurodiagnostic laboratory. She worked as a scheduler and after about 3 months was promoted to clinical supervisor and medical assistant in the sleep apnea department. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, like many workers, she was laid off. Her history in scheduling and management was a perfect fit as an Executive Administrative Assistant for IPCWell and eventually a promotion to Chief Administrative Officer.
Working with IPCWell has changed Meagan’s life! Not only does she feel empowered in her position, but she knows IPCWell truly makes a difference. She gets excited to start every workday because she knows her work leads to safer nursing home facilities and lives saved!
Outside of work Meagan enjoys being an artist. She loves all arts and crafts but especially painting. She also enjoys singing and writing music on her ukulele, as well as exercising and spending time with her wife and their cat. Meagan also has a big family and enjoys spending as much time with them as she can! She is currently attending business school.
